HOW
DOES SOMEONE DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP WITH A SPONSOR?
Developing a
relationship with a sponsor is the same as developing a relationship with
anyone. It takes time and dedication! Call your sponsor: Talk
to them, let them know what you think, how you feel, anything about yourself you
can make yourself share. The more a sponsor/mentor knows, the more they
can help you. Build trust and communication with them through the phone,
meetings, coffee, socials, one on one secessions, sponsorship meetings, anyway
you can. Just build! Ask to spend some One on One time with your
sponsor, and stick to your commitment.
YOUR NOT THE BOSS OF ME
A sponsor is a mentor. Someone who will share
with you how they worked the steps and found the peace and serenity they have in
life. Your not looking for a boss, but you do have to remember that "YOU
HAVE TO BE WILLING TO GO TO ANY LENGTHS" to get clean and sober. If they
keep giving suggestions, and you keep not listening, something needs to change!
