For So long, alcohol and/or drugs said to me constantly, "Good Choice", "Good Decision", "Great Job". I got so used to hearing and feeling that for all the wrong reasons. When I got sober, I needed to feed my ego and myself with some real positive truth's! I needed to hear, "Good Choice!", "Great Job!". I believe I became addicted to hearing this in my mind, because that was the only way I could really feel it. I needed something else to take the place of that strong influence in my life. Affirmations is one of the things that helped me. Without drugs and alcohol, I had no ego, and self esteem was nil! Self affirmations are important to me, and all of us. We start out not believing them very much at all. Before too long, we begin to realize where our real potentials are, where are real talents are, where are real gifts are, what we are good at, and things that make us good spiritual human beings. Heck, we even begin to realize we have "Nice Eye's", "A beautiful smile", and "Legs to die for!" These are things that not all of us knew while we out there (at least when we weren't under the influence of one thing or another). Learn to give yourself positive affirmations, and hang around long enough to hear them before, during, after and outside of the meetings! You will be amazed before you are half way through!
"We need to turn down the volume on those loud, yammering voices that shame and judge us and turn up the volume on the quiet Loving voice. As long as we are judging and shaming ourselves we are feeding back into the disease, we are feeding the dragon within that is eating the life out of us." Codependence: The Dance of

For some of us, We learned to negatively affirm ourselves several hundred times a day. It is very important to start taping over the old tapes with positive affirmations! If we Truly believed the positive affirmations we would not have to say them. When we most need to say them is when we least believe them - when we are feeling the worst. This helps to build our self esteem and make us feel better. We learn from affirmations from others, as well as from ourselves. My recommendation is to pick 5 affirmations either out of the list below, or of your own and say them to yourself every morning in your meditation. You will notice a dash between the affirmations, that is only to separate them. Pick as you choose.
