Meeting After The Meeting
Going out for coffee together is another great way to share away from all the interruptions
in life. Also, don't forget to check out the MEETING BEFORE
AND MEETING and the MEETING AFTER THE MEETING. This is when some true hard
core stuff could be shared that you may not find in a meeting.
Do Your "Homework"
Ask your Sponsor to take you through the steps. You can read the big
book together
and on your own. You can discuss topics that intrigue you,
and explore all that is new to you. A sponsors job is to share their
experience, strength and hope. You have to go to your sponsor. It is
not their job to chase your down and throw it down your throat. Give it a
shot. It is fun and easy for the most part.
Attend Meetings Together
Try to attend at least one meeting a week with your sponsor/sponsoree.
This helps to bond, get to know each other, and share more.
Internet Meetings Available
Check out meeting on the net! When your in need, they help if you can't
get to a regular meeting. Here are some sites to check out:
It's OK to tell people about your anniversaries! Share with them about
theirs and learn from their experience, strength and hope as you give yours
away.
Keep It Simple, Silly!
Don't try to over-analyze everything! Take it simple. You can't
get sober, diet, quit smoking and make all the money you need to pay up all your
bills immediate. We didn't turn into Alcoholics or drug addicts in a
minute, we won't get sober in a minute.
Make A Gratitude List!
It is hard to be depressed and/or full of anger when you are full of
gratitude!!! Make a gratitude list: State 5 things that you are
grateful for today! It helps.
Step 3: Turn it OVER!
Higher Power...sounds like a strong word and it is. When I stated out,
my higher power was meetings. I thought of it like a board meeting
of my company that was going down the drain. I bring in all my best
managers and tell them the situation. I ask them to come up with ideas to
help save what of the company I can. They all offer suggestions and take
some from one, some from another, and so on. I use this to form my
plan. A plan from people who have been there. This group, is a power
than myself. Many times, I had to turn over some situation, in order to
learn how to deal with it more effectively.
Begin the day With meditation and Prayer!
God, direct my thinking. May it be divorced
from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives. Help me to love others, as
much as you love me. Father, keep me sober.
Read the Literature
Allot of us hate to read. I am one of those. Reading the big book
taught me much! In the big book, we can see how many others were able to
form and maintain sober, serene lives before us. We learn how they did it,
how they continue it, how they share it. Take time to read the
literature.

cannot be grateful and hateful at the same time
